I like this anchor chart for teaching students about the elements of art which are the basic building blocks required to make art. Compare it to the alphabet which is used to make up everything from simple words to masterpieces of literature. The alphabet of art includes: line, shape, form, texture, space, color, and value. These can be used to make everything from simple doodles to masterpieces of art.
Here is a poem to help students review the elements of art. However, I would like the third line to be moved up to number two to avoid confusion, with students thinking that only line, shape, and color are elements of art.
