New-Tritional Info from mathalicious.com is a lesson that I like to use when teaching students about the digestive system. I also have students create posters with 2 nearly identical drawings of both a higher calorie food item and a lower calorie food item. Next, they write the number of calories of each food item, by the first set, and then they write the number of minutes of a particular type of exercise it would take to burn off the item. Then, they poll their family members and graph the results, to see if knowing the number of calories, or the number of minutes of exercise would change people’s decisions when choosing which food to order.
I could also see this being used in a high school/ college nutrition or health class.
