Firing Factors

Subtraction Blast is a fun game. The pace of this game is too fast for someone who is just learning about subtraction, but it will help students think about the factors that make up a number. As a player fires the numbers two and three at the incoming numbers, their total is subtracted from the original number. The goal is to fire the exact total at each number, so that the total reaches zero. For example, if the number seven is coming towards the turret, then a 3, 2, & 2 need to be fired at the number 7. For each mistake, or for each ignored number, the turret is pushed upward upon a growing pile of debris. When the turret reaches the top of the screen, the game is over.
