The Checks Lab is a good lesson for helping students learn about the nature of science. Groups of students work together to determine what occurred to a family based upon limited data (a few random checks). As the students collect more data (checks) the story tends to change and refine. They also see that their story becomes clearer and more accurate, when they collaborate with many other groups together.
