Wiz Kid is a fun game to play to learn about the meanings of homophones. Homophones are words that sound the same, but are spelled differently, and they mean different things, too (for example: week = 7 days, and weak = not strong).
The goal is to move your wizard around by going left, right, or by jumping. The wizard is provided a word meaning, or a sentence with a missing word, and the player must locate the correct word to to advance. The wizard presses the letter “g” to grab the words. Along the way the wizard also collects coins, opens mystery boxes, and fires spells at enemies like moving mushrooms. It does take some finesse, when students are first leaning how to jump around.
