Nessy has created a short video titled, “ight” that teaches students about spelling words with the letter combination “ight”. The video uses the phrase, “i go home tonight” as a mnemonic devise to remember that “ight” is used to spell words like bright. They keep the “i” lower case in the video, so that students remember to keep it lower case when spelling words with “ight”. Just remember to reinforce that “i” by itself is always capitalized, as are the first words of all sentences.
I like this approach because they explain the rule with a short, memorable, visual story, with supportive, brightly colored text added below. These videos from Nessy are created with dyslexic students in mind, but are truly valuable for most, if not all people.
